birch infusion

Due to its diuretic effects, it is used against cystitis and to prevent kidney stones . Also used against gout and to “detoxify” the body.

The infusion is sometimes also recommended against rheumatism.

For a cup of birch infusion tea , use:

– 1 to 2 teaspoons (2-3 grams) of dried birch leaves (you can find them in drugstores or herbalists). You can find dried birch in pharmacies or in nature fresh, and then dry it. Birch leaves can be harvested until July (after which the leaves are no longer the proper quality). Prefer older, darker leaves.

– Approximately 200 mL of water.

– Heat the water to a boil and add it over the birch leaves.

– Let the infusion rest for ten minutes (to obtain an effective dose of active ingredients).

– Filter the infusion if necessary.

– Drink a cup of tea 1-4 times a day.

Note: When using diuretic medications, it is important to drink fluids (water or herbal tea).
