Where does cardamom grow?

Cardamom originates from India, where it still grows in the country. You can also find cardamom growing in regions close to the equator (in the tropics), such as some countries in Central America. Sri Lanka is a country where cardamom grows.

Interesting Observations

Cardamom belongs to the same family as ginger, a plant also used in cases of nausea and vomiting, especially during chemotherapy.

Cardamom, as a spice, is an important ingredient in Indian cuisine (curries). Sometimes called the “queen of spices” to describe this plant, sharing the title with black pepper.

In Ayurvedic (Indian) medicine, cardamom is used particularly for the treatment of digestive disorders.
