Summer is a season characterized by high temperatures and high humidity. This leads to intense sweating that can result in the appearance of terrible pimples, or acne. Cleansing the skin, especially the face, is essential. However, contrary to what many people think, excessive hygiene can increase the appearance of pimples. Learn how to overcome this problem and maintain beautiful skin during the season.
1. Always wash your face. Acne arises when impurities clog pores, which then become inflamed. There are several specific products for cleaning the skin, especially the face. Give preference to products that do not dry the skin and that have salicylic acid, triclosan or zinc as their active ingredient . ATTENTION : excessive cleansing irritates the skin, increases sebum production and encourages the appearance of pimples. Wash your face about 3 times a day.
2. Avoid excess makeup. In summer, people sweat more and produce more sebum. Makeup clogs pores and causes inflammation. Prefer light makeup that does not harm your skin. Always remember to remove it before bed.
3. Avoid excessive exposure to the sun. Sunbathing is important for the production of vitamin D and even for the improvement of pimples. However, excessive exposure makes the skin sensitive and causes it to produce more sebum. That way, pores can clog more easily, causing acne. Prefer to sunbathe at appropriate times (before 10 am and after 4 pm) and always use sunscreen.
4. Practice physical exercises. Summer is vacation time and many people forget about physical activities. Sports improve blood circulation, help eliminate toxins and oxygenate the skin.
5. Have a balanced diet. The exaggerated consumption of sugar, fats, soft drinks, etc. worsens the acne condition. Opt for vegetables, greens, fruits, cereals and lean meats (like fish). Pay special attention to vitamin A products such as carrots, squash, and leafy greens.
6. Drink lots of water. It is indicated that the person consumes 2-3 liters of water per day. Water, in addition to hydrating the organs (including the skin), helps eliminate toxins that can cause pimples and blackheads.
7. Avoid environments with high humidity . This includes nightclubs or very hot environments. Excess moisture makes acne worse. If you are exposed to a very humid environment, wash your face as soon as possible to eliminate excess sebum and dirt.
8. Don’t squeeze pimples. In addition to not helping with your improvement, squeezing acne can leave scars that are difficult to remove.
9. Avoid excessive use of abrasive products. This includes exfoliants and other products that harm the skin. They increase sebum production when used in excess. Talk to your dermatologist to find out how often to use these products.
10. If you use any acne products, use sunscreen. Many of the medications indicated for pimples are acid-based (retinoic, azelaic, salicylic, glycolic, etc.) and leave the skin very sensitive. The use of these products without sunscreen can cause burns and irreversible spots on the skin. Whenever you are undergoing treatment, use a product with an SPF suitable for your skin.
With these tips you will be able to reduce acne not only in the summer, but all year round!
