Magnesium chloride

Magnesium chloride: the remedy against stress and fatigue!

Use

– In case of disorders and diseases related to a lack of magnesium, such as stress , fatigue , anxiety , insomnia , mild to moderate depression (read below in Observations)

– In case of constipation (magnesium chloride has a laxative effect)

– It has effects against various infections ( flu , sore throat ) due to its preventive and curative action on the immune system.

Ingredients

– Sachets of 20 g of magnesium chloride

– 1 liter of water

Preparation

– Dissolve the magnesium chloride in water.

Posology

– For adults and children over 5 years old: drink 1 dose, every 6 hours, for 48 hours, and then every 8 hours, until complete cure.

– Note: 1 dose = 125ml (small glass), in 1 liter it is possible to have 8 doses.

It is important to note that 2 to 5 liters of magnesium chloride are needed to obtain good results (ie between 16 and 40 doses). [Dosage source: Pharmacie-Maison, “Ce que vous devez avoir toujours chez vous”, 1991, Editions Reuille, Versoix, Switzerland]

Conservation

– Since it is not possible to drink the whole mixture at once, but in doses, it is advisable to store it in the refrigerator to improve the taste (to make it less bitter).

Comments

– Magnesium chloride has a special taste (very bitter), this can be a serious brake on the consumption of this remedy.

Here is a good tip, communicated by the internet user Claudia: “Instead of dissolving magnesium chloride in water and drinking it (it is not very good), it is possible to use it to salt soups, salads, etc. Instead of the prescribed amount of salt, use a half-dose of table salt and half-dose of magnesium. The bitter taste will not be as sensitive. Only problem: keep the sachet tightly closed, as the product attracts moisture and can become a salt “syrup”!🇧🇷

– Magnesium chloride is mainly used for its concentration of magnesium, a very important mineral for the body. Some (controversial) studies also take into account the importance of the chloride salt, in this case, associated with magnesium. As chloride is also found in table salt (NaCl), there may be doubts about the importance of chloride for its medicinal effect.

It is important to know that there are other magnesium salts besides chloride, such as (magnesium) citrate, carbonate, sulfate, glutamate, etc. Magnesium chloride, thanks to the chloride, seems to have better absorption than the other salts. Plus, it’s generally cheaper than other magnesium-based compounds.

– Many websites, magazines or books tend to exaggerate the effects of magnesium chloride. They believe he could cure almost every disease (diabetes to cancer), it’s clearly intellectual abuse. Watch out for the placebo effect.

In the end, magnesium chloride is primarily used for its magnesium concentration (being a chloride salt). Magnesium is very important for our health, it is found naturally in many foods, such as bananas. Always discuss with your doctor or nutritionist to determine your magnesium needs.

Depression and Magnesium (Study)

A study published in June 2017 showed that magnesium taken as a dietary supplement tablet was as effective in treating mild to moderate depression as classic antidepressants often used, such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) such as citalopram or fluoxetine. In this randomized clinical trial, a portion of 126 patients with mild to moderate depression received 248 mg elemental magnesium (500 mg magnesium chloride) daily for a period of 6 weeks or no treatment. The researchers found that in 112 of the participants with usable data, magnesium chloride consumption for 6 weeks led to a significant clinical improvement in the measurement of depression and anxiety symptoms. Another interesting result of this study was that the antidepressant effect of magnesium appeared quickly, already after 2 weeks of treatment and without causing significant side effects. This study was conducted by a team from the University of Vermont in the United States and published in the specialized journal PLoS One  on June 28, 2017.  Read more
