Raspberry leaf infusion


To prepare for labor, tonic action on the uterus (during the end of pregnancy). In cases of menstrual cramps or heavy menstruation. diarrhea . Sore throat .


For a cup of raspberry leaf infusion, use:

– 1 teaspoon of dried raspberry leaves (can be purchased at pharmacies and herbalists).

– Approximately 200 ml of water.


– Heat the water until it boils and add the raspberry leaves.

– Let the infusion rest for 10 minutes to obtain an effective dose of the active ingredients.

– Filter, to remove the leaves.

If this infusion is to be used against diarrhea, let the infusion rest for 20 to 30 minutes to extract the maximum amount of tannins, which are the molecules responsible for the effect of constipation.


Drink 2 to 3 cups of this infusion a day during the last 3 months of pregnancy.

In case of diarrhea, take a third of a glass (80 ml) 3 to 4 times a day if necessary.

Depending on each indication, ask your pharmacist for a more personalized dosage.

You can drink it hot or cold (ice cream).

Possible adverse effects

Constipation (because of tannins which can have a constipating effect).


– It is possible to add a little lemon juice or honey, for example, against sore throats. For this indication, it is also possible to use it in gargles. In the United States, one recipe recommends adding 1 to 2 drops of orange essential oil. To sweeten this tea, honey is recommended.

– A Norwegian study published in 2009 in the scientific journal Complementary Therapies in Clinical Practice (DOI: 10.1016/j.ctcp.2009.05.003) was critical of the use of raspberry leaf tea in preparing pregnant women for labor childbirth, it is stated that the safety and effectiveness of this remedy has not been guaranteed. In other words, according to Norwegian scientists, there is not enough scientific evidence about the effectiveness and safety of raspberry leaf tea.
