sleeping infusion

Use

In cases of sleep disorders ( insomnia ), including in case of sleeping difficulties.

Ingredients

For 1 cup of sleeping infusion tea (about 200 ml), use:

– 2 teaspoons (about 2 grams) of dried melissa leaves (lemon balm) .

– 1 teaspoon (about 3 grams) of valerian root .

– 1 teaspoon (about 1 g) of the aerial parts (flowers, leaves, stems) of passion flower

– 1 teaspoon (about 5 g) of dried lavender flowers

– Approximately 200 ml of water.

Preparation

– Mix these herbs in the amounts above.

– Heat the water until it boils and then add the boiling water over the mixture.

– Let infusion rest for 10 minutes (to obtain an effective dose of active substance).

– Filter the mixture.

Posology

– Drink a cup of tea at night before going to sleep.

Notes
– These two herbs (melissa and valerian) together have a hypnotic, sedative or calming effect proven in a clinical study. In fact, according to a German study published in 1992 in the journal Natural Standard, the combination of valerian and lemon balm is as effective as taking triazolam (a prescription drug in the benzodiazepine class). These two plants can be consumed as a tea (due to the action described above), tincture or fluid extract. You can also drink this tea in the late afternoon. The addition of passionflower and lavender also enhances the flavor and contributes to a calming effect.
