valerian infusion


– In case of difficulties falling asleep, sleep disorders , anxiety .


For a cup of valerian infusion , use:

– 1 teaspoon (about 3 g) of valerian root

– About 200 ml of water


– Boil water and add it to the valerian roots.

– Leave to infuse for about ten minutes (to obtain an effective dose of active substances), some sources even advise leaving to infuse for about 15 minutes. If possible, cover the infusion with a small dish or lid to prevent the active ingredients from steaming out.


– Drink a glass several times a day, preferably at night to fall asleep, for example, 30 to 60 minutes before going to bed.

You can also have a drink in the late afternoon.

Valerian has antispasmodic and sedative effects.

Driving vehicles (because it causes drowsiness). People with kidney and liver disorders should start a valerian-based treatment under the supervision of a doctor. Some sources advise against using valerian during pregnancy and breastfeeding. The plant is also contraindicated without medical advice for children under 6 years old.

Possible side effects or side effects:
Especially during excessive consumption of this tea, side effects such as migraine, hypertension or excitability may occur (paradoxical effect)1.
